While the concept of remote work has gained immense popularity and offers flexibility, it is crucial to be aware of certain realities.
In recent times, there has been an increase in job postings that claim to be remote positions but are, in fact, hybrid roles requiring a combination of remote and on-site work. This means that while the job may provide some flexibility to work remotely, there might still be a requirement to be physically present at specific locations or adhere to certain time zones.
As we continue to provide you with job opportunities in the podcasting and audio industry, we want to emphasize the importance of conducting your own due diligence before applying to any job. While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, some job listings may have expired or been filled, or the company may have no intention of hiring at all. Additionally, some job listings may be designed to exploit applicants.
We also want to remind you to exercise caution with jobs that do not list a salary or pay range. It is important to know what you will be paid for your work before accepting a job offer. If a company is not transparent about compensation, it may be a red flag.
We encourage you to thoroughly research each job opportunity before submitting an application or accepting an offer. This includes researching the company, reading reviews from current and former employees, and asking questions during the interview process.

Spotify's Q2/23 Financial Highlights
Spotify, the popular audio streaming platform, recently released its financial report for Q2/23, showcasing impressive growth in various aspects. Monthly Active Users saw a significant increase of 27%, reaching 551 million, while Paid Subscribers grew by 17% to 220 million.
Despite the remarkable user growth, the company reported a loss of US$272 million during the quarter. Part of this loss can be attributed to $45 million in "content asset write-offs and contract termination and related costs in connection with rationalizing our podcast content portfolio." Additionally, $12 million was incurred in "severance charges primarily in connection with streamlining our podcast operations."
However, it's not all gloomy news for Spotify's podcasting efforts. Podcast ad revenue witnessed a remarkable surge of over 30% year-on-year, fueled by impressive performance across Original and Licensed podcasts, as well as the Spotify Audience Network. Podcasts are proving to be a profitable venture for the company.
On the other hand, Variety suggests that Spotify Podcasts may be entering a phase of slower growth, backed by data from Edison Research indicating a slight dip in spoken word's share on the platform. Despite this, podcasts still account for one out of every five hours consumed on Spotify, indicating their continued popularity among users.
Furthermore, Reuters reports that Spotify is currently in contract negotiations with major labels. To secure favorable deals, the company may be cautious about sounding too optimistic about its future prospects.
Overall, Spotify's Q2/23 financial results present a mixed picture, showcasing strong user growth and podcast ad revenue while facing challenges in streamlining podcast operations and navigating label negotiations.
