Podcast Giants Bring Their Content to YouTube, But Fail to Attract Viewers

YouTube made a deliberate attempt to attract well-established podcasters to its platform over the past year. This includes big names such as NPR, Slate, and The New York Times, which have a massive listenership outside of YouTube. However, their podcasts aren't performing as well on the video-sharing platform. In the last week, Slate's shows only averaged around 75 views per video, while NPR had around 179 views. The New York Times' show The Daily performed better, but still only had an average of 1,000 views per video in the past week. Although YouTube is the second most frequently used service for weekly podcast listeners in the US, podcasters aren't seeing much success on the platform just yet. Nevertheless, YouTube remains optimistic and plans to improve the podcast discovery experience in the future.
